Hello

My name is Raymond Holling. I am a visual communication designer. With an appreciation of nature and modern composition I strive to convey meaning within my work.

I enjoy a good beer, hunting and fishing with my family, video games, weight lifting, food, and movies.

Through design I find a sense of freedom, a better understanding of the connections we share in the world, and an appreciation for the experiences that shape me.

About

In May 2010, I graduated from Arizona State University with a BSD in Graphic Design. Through my time spent within the design community, I have been blessed to spend time in a number of situations building my experience as a designer. I have developed many skills during this course. In 2009 during school I was the lead for Posterism, the ASU Senior Design Poster Show. Here I was introduced to management, coordination, planning, and contacting donors. Summer 2009 I spent an entire summer as an intern at Blender Creative. Here I was exposed to branding, logo design, and identity building. We were exposed to clients, concept meetings, and effective planning. After the internship I was pulled on as a contract position, providing primarily logo design for a number of clients. Since January 2010 I have been apart of a group of designers and historians under the ASU history department developing signage for Northern Parks of Arizona. This project is commissioned by The National Park Service

and is due early 2011. My role here is not only a designer, in early stages I managed contact with numerous illustrators as we were seeking out illustrations for the signage. This project is very hands on, we spent time visiting the sites multiple times as well as taking necessary photographs. Most recently from July to November I worked with historians, and exhibition planners to develop an exhibit for the Jewish Family & Children’s Service celebrating their 75th anniversary. This was a big project in a short time frame and really exemplified the importance of organization, planning, and decision making. As I stand today, I remain humble, willing to have patience to learn. My approach takes theory, reasoning, and real world experience to provide effective communication. I achieve this by being willing to ask proper questions. My personal values are to be respectful and take pride in my work, I really believe that it makes the difference in my work.
